ABOUT US

The People Behind Your Safari

We set out to share the Tanzania
we already knew and loved.

Mufindi Travel & Tours began the way most great safaris do — through personal relationships, not marketing campaigns. Long before we built a website, we were arranging trips for friends, family, and travelers who found us through word of mouth, one recommendation at a time.

Today, that same personal approach shapes everything we do, even as we grow. Every itinerary is planned by someone who has actually walked these parks, not assembled from a template — because we still believe that's the only way to plan a safari worth taking.

Our Home Ground:
The Southern Circuit

While most operators send every traveler up the same well-worn northern route, Mufindi has built its deepest expertise in the south — Tanzania's quieter, wilder half. This is where the Rufiji River carries you past hippos and crocodiles by boat, where Ruaha's baobab plains hold some of Africa's healthiest lion populations, and where a walking safari at dawn can feel more intimate than any game drive. Further south still, Udzungwa's rainforest hides primates and plant species found nowhere else on Earth, while Katavi — reachable only by air, guarded by just three permanent camps — remains one of the last genuinely undiscovered corners of East African safari country. Far fewer vehicles, far fewer visitors, and a landscape that rewards travelers willing to go beyond the obvious. This isn't a region we added to round out a package list — it's the one we started with, learned first, and understand more deeply with every season we spend in it. We didn't choose the Southern Circuit because it was easy to market — we chose it because we know it better than anywhere else, and we believe it deserves to be seen.

What Makes
Mufindi Different

Working with Mufindi means working directly with the people planning your trip — no outsourced call center, no third-party markup, no guesswork. Every itinerary is shaped around your time, your pace, and the parks that matter most to you, then handled end-to-end by guides and planners who know the Southern Circuit firsthand. It's a smaller, more personal way to plan a safari — and for the travelers who've tried it, it's hard to go back to anything else.

WHAT DRIVES US

A Purpose Bigger
Than a Trip

Mufindi was built on a simple idea — that the best safaris come from real knowledge, not a booking algorithm. As we grow, that idea shapes both where we're focused today and where we intend to go. The two sections below capture that: what we've set out to do first, and what we're building toward for the long term.

Our Mission

To open Tanzania's Southern Circuit to the world — sharing the rivers, wildlife, and wilderness of Nyerere, Ruaha, Mikumi, Udzungwa, and Katavi with the same personal care and firsthand knowledge that built Mufindi from day one.

Our Vision

To become the most trusted tour guide in Tanzania and across East Africa — known not just for where we take travelers, but for how genuinely we understand the places we bring them to.
